Corn flakes are often seen as a convenient and quick breakfast option, and in the past two decades, it has gained significant popularity in India. In today’s fast paced world, we always look for quick ways to do everything, and this includes our meals. While experts believe that breakfast should be the heaviest meal of the day, many people rely on quick meals like cornflakes, as it is seen as one of the easiest items to prepare. While consuming it once a week or so may be okay, if you are eating it daily, it can lead to several side effects.
High in calories and sugar
Whether you like it or not, corn flakes are quite high in calories and sugar. That is why consuming it regularly puts you at risk of ailments such as blood pressure, weight and inflammation. We can already see a rise in the number of heart attacks in the past two years, and if you choose to eat foods loaded with sugar, it might even put your heart at risk.
Lack of nutrition
Several studies have shown that cornflakes do not contain as much nutrition as required by our body. It contains very less fiber, unlike fruits and vegetables, and this is why we can feel hungry even quicker. Consuming fiber is very important for our gut health, but unfortunately, corn flakes does not meet our fiber needs.
Processed ingredients
Another reason to avoid regular consumption of corn flakes is because they undergo significant refinement, and they are loaded with additives, and preservatives. During processing, the natural nutrients present in the corn get lost, and it is replaced by the additives and artificial flavours. And as you probably already know, consumption of processed foods can lead to digestive problems, inflammation, chronic ailments such as heart disease and even cancers.
