Mohsin Khaiyam (Senior Sub Editor)

Known as the Land of Gods, or Devbhoomi, Uttarakhand is one of the best places in India to take a long vacation. You have so much to do that even an entire summer would not be enough. The state has snow-capped mountains that many consider the abode of gods. This is because of the natural beauty of the land. A massive population in the state relies on tourism, as it is surely one of the best places for tourists. There are plenty of tourist attractions and many more adventure-related spots. While it will not be possible for you to visit them all, we have listed the top five places to visit in Uttarakhand. Check the list below:

1. Dehradun

Dehradun is possibly a location that everyone knows in the country. With the Himalayan ranges and the Ganges flowing on the other side of the city, the beauty of Dehradun can hardly be compared with anywhere else. When you are exploring Uttarakhand, Dehradun cannot be missed. You have to visit Robber’s Cave, Malsi Deer Park, Rajaji National Park, and Tapkeshwar Mandir.

2. Mussoorie

The ‘Queen of Hills’, Mussoorie, has some awesome tourist attractions. The hill station is home to Lal Tibba Scenic Point, Gun Hill Point, and Company Garden. Once you have experienced the beauty, you should head to Mall Road for some great shopping.

3. Nainital

Nainital is the next stoppage, which no one can dare miss if they are in Uttarakhand. A boat ride on Naini Lake is a mandatory task if you are there. Due to the surrounding hills, the boating experience is on another level. Apart from this, you must visit Bhimtal Lake, Tiffin Top, Hanuman Garhi, and Gurney House.

4. Jim Corbett

We are sure you like tigers, and what place can be better than Jim Corbett if one likes tigers? Although, if you spot a tiger, do not forget to keep your distance from it. They are not the tabby cats that we are used to. Nevertheless, if you are done with tigers, try counting birds in the Corbett, as there are over 600 species of birds there. Jim Corbett National Park also has some great hiking trails. But remember to take the utmost caution if you decide to go hiking.

5. Auli

Like we said, adventure! If you love adventure, especially adventure on snow, visiting Auli is a must. You can either go skiing or snowboarding. You make the choice, but that too is for safety. Broken bones are quite bad. Make sure you get proper training before you decide to go skiing or even snowboarding. However, winter is the best time to visit Auli, and in the summer, there is not much to see, even though it is almost always covered in snow. Summer visits do guarantee pleasant weather, which would be similar to Arunachal Pradesh.
