Ankur Arora Murder Case

Based on a real-life incident, Ankur Arora Murder Case tells the story of a mother’s quest for justice against the doctors, whose negligence caused the death of her only son. Directed by Suhail Tatari and written by Vikram Bhatt, the film included Tisca Chopra in the lead role, with actors such as Arjun Mathur and Paoli Dam in supporting roles, while Kay Kay Menon plays the antagonist.

Human

Released in 2022, Human is underrated medical thriller series, which revolves around the subject of human drug testing, the role of big pharma companies, and govt officials who exploit the vulnerable population for human drug trials.

Yashoda

Based on real-life scandals, Yashoda revolves around the story of a woman named Yashoda who is in need of money urgently. She is taken to Eva, a state-of-the-art surrogacy centre owned by Dr. Madhubala. However soon Yashoda learns that there might be something fishy going on at the centre, and everything is not as it seems. The scandals uncovered in this film are indeed shocking and have been reported in the media multiple times, and yet, most people are still unaware. Written and directed by Hari Shankar and Harish Narayan, the film starred Samantha Akkineni in the lead role, with other actors such as Unni Mukundan, Rao Ramesh, and Murali Sharma in supporting roles.

Gabbar is Back

Released in 2015, Gabbar is Back is a bold film on corruption in Indian bureaucracy and private hospitals. The film was directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, with Akshay Kumar in the lead role, and Shruti Hasan, Sunil Grover and Jaideep Ahlawat in supporting roles. Although the film primarily focused on government officers, there is a lengthy scene which showed how some doctors and hospitals play with human lives for profit.

Mersal

Directed by Atlee, Mersal is probably the best film in India that exposes several corrupt malpractices of the medical industry. The story revolves around a young man whose father is killed by a corrupt doctor. He eventually makes it a mission to become a doctor and provide affordable healthcare to the poor. Directed by Atlee, the film stars Tamil superstar Vijay in a triple role, while S.J. Suryah, Kajal Aggarwal and Samantha Ruth Prabhu play supporting roles. The film takes a bold stand on this important issue, and the Tamil Nadu branch of the Indian Medical Association were so outraged by some scenes of the film that they asked their members to pirate the film!
