Defying limits and challenges: Srikanth Movie Review

Robin Bhuyan

If we tell you that we are going to show you a biopic about the struggles of a visually impaired person, you might feel it will be very boring, right? Well, if so, you are wrong! Because Srikanth is a biopic that doesn’t disappoint you in any way, not just providing meaningful entertainment, but might even leave a lasting impression on you.

Directed by Tushar Hiranandani, who has previously given us movies like Saand ki Aankh and Scam 2003, Srikanth tells the story of Srikanth Bolla, an Indian entrepreneur who became the first visually impaired international student admitted to MIT, USA, and later founded Bollant Industries. Hiranandani effectively manages to capture the challenges a visually impaired person has to endure in their day to day lives, and how despite this, Srikanth managed to not only go against the system, defying all odds, but also do something outstanding! Along with being a motivational film, it also has a message – which tells you not to treat a disabled person as special or as trash, but to treat them as you would treat any other individual. Kudos to the director for being able to pass on this message in an effective way! He doesn’t make the blunder of turning the film into another woke propaganda either!

Rajkumar Rao, an actor who never disappoints, has given one of the best performances of his career, as it will seem like you are actually watching a visually impaired actor on the screen. Actress Jyothika and Alaya F deliver commendable performances, while Sharad Kelkar fits in perfectly as Srikanth’s investor cum advisor and friend.

The best thing about the film is that unlike many biopics, it doesn’t hesitate to show how Srikanth lets his confidence turn into arrogance, leading to distancing those people who have always supported him. We are also taken to the dirty world of politics and shown how parties are even willing to use a blind person for their political gain!

Overall, if you are looking for an entertaining and motivational film that shows you how to be a fighter no matter how many challenges life throw at you, you will definitely love this film!
