5 Upcoming Indian games which might stand out internationally

HomeGaming5 Upcoming Indian games which might stand out internationally

India has never had a big budget AAA game. But let us look at top 5 Indian games we should be seeing soon by 2026…

India’s gaming scene undoubtedly has a lot of potential, due to the land’s rich and epic mythology, vibrant history, and thousands of folk tales begging to be turned into games. Yet, despite all this, no Indian games company has been able to deliver a strong AAA title—massive, polished titles like Witcher 3 and God of War that rule the gaming world.

It’s indeed heartbreaking, like a Diwali firecracker that fizzles out before the big bang. Small Indian games companies and indie devs pour their hearts into it, but crazy taxes, tight budgets, piracy and lack of support keep the dream just out of reach. However, here we take a look at five upcoming Indian games— each trying to make its own Indian no 1 game. Let us take a look and see if any of them has any potential.

Kaal Yoddha: Curse of the Mask

kaal yodha curse of the mask

  • Developer: Treta Studios (a small Indian games company)

In Kaal Yoddha: Curse of the Mask, you’re Prince Avyaan, a brave warrior who travels alone to a cursed island crawling with Rakshasas (demons). The story follows the prince’s quest to unravel the mystery of ancient masks, demonic forces, and save the island from a dark curse. Like God of War games. Kaal Yoddha wants to be a mythic hack-and-slash epic with intense combat. But where Kratos swings with jaw-dropping polish, Avyaan’s animations and combat feel stiff, like a warrior stuck in quicksand. The visuals are rough, and it needs serious work to shine. This Indian game has big dreams, but it’s the least polished. The combat needs improvement, the graphics look outdated, and the story lacks punch. Still, there’s hope—if Treta Studios tightens it up, increases its budget, and focuses on polishing their game, Kaal Yoddha could be a solid Indian game like God of War.

Release Date: No set date; wishlisted on Steam, likely late 2025 or early 2026. However, the Kaal Yoddha demo is now available to play.

Mukti

mukti - indian games

  • Developer: UnderDOGS Studio (an Indian games company)

Mukti puts you in an Indian museum, where you are uncovering tales of human trafficking.  It’s less about action and more about exploration feeling the weight of the story. This type of gameplay can however feel boring for some players. Story-based games are not for everyone. But if you like games like What Remains of Edith Finch and Martha is Dead, this title might be perfect for you. Mukti uses exploration to tell emotional stories, but will it be as smooth or gripping? This Indian game’s focus on social issues is bold, and we are yet to see how the visuals and gameplay turns out.

Release Date: No firm date; wishlisted on Steam, aiming for 2025.

Occult Chambers

  • Developer: RedDrop Entertainment (an Indian games company)

Occult Chambers delves into the darker side of Indian mythology, exploring the horror elements of ancient occult rituals and the fantastical creatures. The story is about a young guy named Dhruv who sets out on a quest to find his father and uncover the truth behind his disappearance. In this journey, he finds himself in abandoned forts and chambers filled with dark and terrifying occult activities. The game immerses players in the eerie
and mysterious valleys of the Himalayas. The game kind of resembles Uncharted but with a horror and supernatural twist. Only time will tell if the game lives up to expectations of fans.

Release Date: No firm date; wishlisted on Steam, aiming for 2025.

Null New Order

Developer: Wingblade Studio (a tiny Bhopal-based Indian games company)

Null New Order thrusts you into a mythic world as a warrior facing demons and creatures from Indian lore. The story seems like a whirlwind of ancient prophecies and epic battles, with you slashing through enemies to uncover a cosmic truth. The game seems somewhat inspired by titles like Devil May Cry. It’s bold but rough—voice acting’s flat, and the plot needs sharp writing to connect with fans.

Release Date: No set date; likely late 2025 or beyond.

The Age of Bhaarat

  • Developer: Tara Gaming (Although it is predominantly an Indian game, where the studio is based is still unsure)

The Age of Bhaarat is a grand tale of Indian history or mythology, casting you as a hero in a world of gods, warriors, and ancient secrets. The story promises epic quests and deep lore, like a chapter from Mahabharat brought to life. Details are scarce, but the trailer has been released few days back. So far all we know is that we will play as a forest guardian who is defending their land against rakshasas. The game seems to be inspired by soulslike games like Elden Ring. Our only wish is that the game has a difficulty setting, otherwise majority of people might rage quit or not even play it! If everything is done right, Age of Bharat could be the Indian no 1 game that can take Indian games to an international level. It’s the dream Indian gamers have been waiting for.

  • Release Date: No confirmed date; likely late 2026
