A storm of outrage has erupted over the past few days regarding comments made by popular YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia. During an episode of the YouTube show “India’s Got Latent,” hosted by comedian Samay Raina, Ranveer Allahbadia—better known as “BeerBiceps”—posed an inappropriate and deeply offensive question to a contestant. He went as far as asking them if they would commit indecent acts in exchange for 2 crore rupees.
This shocking remark set the internet ablaze. Multiple FIRs were filed against Allahbadia, social media was flooded with backlash, and news channels turned into warzones of debates and heated discussions! But what took everyone by surprise was the extreme reaction from the government. The Indian Parliament organized a panel to investigate the matter—yes, the same Parliament that often remains silent on actual issues plaguing the country!
Now, let’s break this issue down and examine what we can truly learn from it.
1. The Power of Words – A Lesson Never Learned
“Words are more dangerous than swords and guns”
This age-old wisdom rings truer than ever. A single careless sentence can destroy a decade of hard work, and Ranveer Allahbadia has become the best living example of this. It is true that the statements only showed us who he is really is, and that his spiritual image was just a facede! But despite building multiple businesses, doing interviews with numerous influential figures, and cultivating a massive following over the years, with just one foolish, uncontrolled statement, he has thrown all his success down the drain.
2. The Illusion of Influencers – Stop Idolizing the Fake Idols
It’s high time people stop blindly worshipping social media influencers. Most of them are nothing but actors playing a character for views and engagement. Ranveer Allahbadia himself was once a beef-eating atheist. But as soon as PM Modi came to power and the wave of Hindu nationalism rose, he suddenly became an advocate for vegetarianism and spirituality. Is this genuine change, or a calculated move to align with prevailing trends? The answer is obvious to anyone with half a brain! Especially considering that he was personally awarded by the PM himself!
3. The Broader Issue – Why Only Ranveer Allahbadia? What About the Others?
Ranveer is rightfully facing backlash, but let’s not pretend he and Samay Raina are the only influencer promoting disgusting, vulgar content. There are hundreds—if not thousands—of influencers out there pushing even worse things out there, yet they continue to gain views, followers and sponsors. If netizens are truly concerned about corrupting influences, they should boycott not just Ranveer but the entire ecosystem of these kind of content creators who thrive on cheap publicity and vulgarity. Parents, in particular, must take charge and ensure their children are not blindly consuming inappropriate digital content. Sadly, many of them don’t monitor their children’s exposure to digital content. It is important to ensure that youths, especially below the age of 18, are allowed to engage with only age-appropriate material.
4. The Hypocrisy of Public Outrage – Convenient Morality
The mob mentality is in full swing. While many criticize Ranveer, how many of them are truly innocent? The same people crying for his cancellation probably might even consume vulgar material behind closed doors. The truth is, the outrage is less about morality and more about people looking for a scapegoat to feel self-righteous. Accountability is necessary, but the overreaction and hypocrisy must also be called out.
5. Misplaced Priorities – Why Is The Government So Involved instead of other important issues?
While Ranveer’s remarks were utterly disgusting, should the government really be treating this as a national crisis? Parliament is summoning him, news channels are running non-stop debates, and legal action is being fast-tracked. But where was this urgency when it came to far more pressing issues? Consider the following:
- Atul Subhash Case (December 2024): A Bengaluru techie, Atul Subhash, took his own life, leaving behind a note and a long video accusing his wife and in-laws of harassment. Legal provisions meant to protect victims are very often misused, yet where is the government’s swift action on this? Even after Atul Subhash, many other men committed suicide, but government has taken zero action!
- Kolkata Horror (August 2024): A young female doctor was brutally assaulted and murdered, sparking protests. But within months, the outrage faded, and even today justice remains nonexistent.
- Pune Porsche Case: (May 2024) A rich, influential 17-year-old caused the death of two people in a reckless Porsche hit-and-run. He was granted bail overnight because of his privileged status. Where is the same level of media hysteria? Did administration show this level of swift action and outrage?
- Manipur Unrest: Ethnic violence has ravaged Manipur for over a year, displacing countless families. Yet the government and national media seem to have all but abandoned this issue.
- Rising Inflation: People are struggling with the skyrocketing cost of living, but apparently, a YouTuber’s inappropriate comment is more newsworthy than the economic crisis affecting millions.
These are the issues that should dominate national discourse, yet we are obsessed with a controversy surrounding a YouTuber. Yes, Ranveer deserves criticism, but let’s not lose sight of what truly matters. This entire episode exposes how easily public attention can be manipulated, steering us away from real problems and turning a minor controversy into a manufactured national crisis.
It’s time to wake up. Hold influencers accountable, but don’t let distractions dictate the national conversation. The real problems facing this country deserve our anger more than a podcaster’s reckless words. Let us begin prioritizing where the actual problems lie, that are plaguing the nation and eating it from the inside!
