Over 10 years passed, and people still can’t stop talking about Witcher 3. Here, we analyze few The Witcher 3 characters and see which are the most annoying ones.
-Robin Bhuyan
There are giants, monsters, and even vampires in The Witcher 3 universe, but what’s more annoying than the tough boss fights are some of the insufferable The Witcher 3 characters themselves. You slash through wraiths and drowners with ease, but navigating the personalities of these Witcher 3 annoying characters is where the real combat lies. In a game teeming with deeply layered individuals, not every soul is a joy to interact with. Some test your patience. Others make you want to launch your silver sword through the screen.
Whether it’s through arrogance, hypocrisy, self-entitlement, or sheer audacity, these are the Witcher 3 least liked characters – ranked from mildly irritating to “why did CD Projekt Red not give me an option to punch them?” And yes, we’re starting with Dandelion.

9. Dandelion – The Lovable Loudmouth

Let’s be fair – Dandelion isn’t a bad person. He cares deeply for Geralt and for Ciri. But that doesn’t mean he’s not one of the most distracting The Witcher 3 characters. He’s loud, obnoxious, narcissistic, and often oblivious to the chaos he causes. His questline involves cleaning up his messes (again), finding him (again), and listening to his theatrical nonsense (again).
He might not top the Witcher 3 annoying characters list, but when you’re fighting Wild Hunt-level threats, it’s hard to stay patient with a bard who thinks he’s the real star. His life is in danger, Ciri’s life might be in danger- but he just can’t stop joking! He talks during moments when silence would be golden and thinks every tragedy needs a musical number. Still, Geralt tolerates him, and so do we – barely.

8. Sigismund Dijkstra – The Smug Strategist

Few of The Witcher 3 characters have the ability to be brilliant and unbearable at the same time as much as Sigismund Djikstra. Dijkstra is cunning, ruthless, and plays the game of thrones like a chess master – but even when he asks Geralt for help, he is condescending beyond belief.
He constantly talks down to Geralt, pretends he’s doing the world a favor, and his smugness oozes out of every dialogue line. Although he might be the least evil, if we compare him to the tyrannical rulers in the game, Dijkstra thinks he knows better than everyone and often treats you like a low-IQ mercenary. Among Witcher 3 annoying characters, Dijkstra’s ego alone could start a war. In a particular side quest, he even goes as far to underestimate you, thinking he actually can defeat Geralt of Rivia in combat! Laughable!

7. Yennefer of Vengerberg – Cold, Calculating, and Complicated

Oh, Yennefer. The queen of sharp retorts and colder shoulders. One of the most divisive The Witcher 3 characters, Yennefer is either your ride-or-die… or just someone you want to ride away from. She’s intelligent, powerful, and emotionally complex — but her arrogance often smothers empathy.
Although the romance option with Yennefer of Vengerberg is considered canon, because of her attitude, many players feel that Geralt should end up with Triss. Yennefer rarely says thank you, frequently uses Geralt like a tool, and acts like her decisions are morally superior. She even talks mockingly towards Vesemir, the oldest Witcher and the mentor of Geralt. Even in heartfelt moments, her pride dominates the room. For many, she’s one of the Witcher 3 least liked characters – and you can’t even blame them. Her brilliance is shadowed by her self-importance.

6. Philippa Eilhart – The Unapologetic Snake

Philippa Eilhart is what happens when intelligence loses all sense of humility. She’s one of those The Witcher 3 characters you feel sorry for initially – but start to dislike as you get to know her. Manipulative, smug, and terrifyingly competent, Philippa doesn’t just step on people to climb the ladder; she burns the entire ladder down.
Her arrogance has no ceiling. She’s cruel in the name of ambition, treats allies like pawns, and betrays anyone she needs to. Among the Witcher 3 annoying characters, she doesn’t screech or stumble – she slithers with style. So, if you love to hate any of the sorceresses, Philippa Eilhart is your girl.

5. The Tax Collector -Annoying Bureaucratic Intrusion

4. Emhyr var Emreis – Daddy Issues Deluxe

The Emperor of Nilfgaard, conqueror of kingdoms….. and father of the year? Not quite. Emhyr is one of the coldest The Witcher 3 characters to ever wear a crown. Emhyr var Emreis is calculating, rigid, and always acting “for the greater good” — even when it means emotionally scarring his daughter. He even shows care for Ciri and wants her back- but not because her really cares for her, but because he needs a successor. More importantly, Ciri has a claim to the throne of Cintra, which gives Nilfgaard legitimacy over Northern territories.
Even his interactions with Geralt are condescending, while his politics drenched in bloodshed. You save his daughter, save the continent, and he still treats you like some lowly mercenary. He’s not just selfish – he’s completely devoid of any compassion and warmth. That’s why Emhyr var Emreis is considered among the Witcher 3 least liked characters — for being an emperor of emotional constipation.

3. Elsa – The Ungrateful Barmaid in White Orchard

You save her life. She responds by telling you to never set foot in the bar again. That’s right — the barmaid from White Orchard, whom you encounter early on in the game may be a minor NPC, but her level of ingratitude is legendary. One of the most quietly infuriating of The Witcher 3 characters, she starts off as a victim and ends up as a petty, shrieking Karen. In White Orchard, her reaction is understandable, since she saw Geralt slaughtering people in front of her own eyes, though it done to save her own life.
But later on, when she sees Geralt in Novigrad at the Kingfisher Inn, she accuses Geralt of being a murderer of “Temerian boys”, and tries to incite the mob, even though Geralt and Vesemir had only intervened to save her. Some players feel that hating him is simpler than trying to process her own guilt & culpability.

2. Vlodimir von Everec’s

If you found Dandelion annoying for his skirt-chasing nature, wait till you meet Vlodimir. (Or we should say Vlodimir’s ghost!) Vlodimir von Everec is a completely different kind of annoying. He’s loud, reckless, and takes control away from you by literally possessing Geralt’s body during the “Dead Man’s Party” quest. While it’s funny at first, his behavior quickly becomes overbearing, especially when his flirting with Shani starts to become harassment.
He begins causing chaos without much regard for consequences. He’s intentionally written as a brash, pleasure-seeking character who enjoys excess and lacks restraint . Some players even find him outright uncomfortable due to how pushy and entitled he acts, especially during interactions with Shani. Entertaining? Probably. But also the kind of character that makes you want your control back as soon as possible.
1. Anna Henrietta – Royal Pain in the Ass

And here she is. The Duchess of Toussaint. The ruler of a wine-drenched paradise. Anna Henrietta might not be as tyrannical as her cousin Emhyr, but she is also seen as among the most spoiled, self-righteous, and irrational out of all The Witcher 3 characters. Anna Henrietta is the kind of character that makes you wonder why Geralt bothers being polite. Maybe he should just leave her along with her knights to their fate!
She invites you to find the beast and stop the killings, but you do much more. You save her city. You uncover a conspiracy. You risk your life a dozen times over. And what’s your reward if you decide not to follow her word to the letter? A dungeon cell! That’s right, she throws Geralt into prison if he dares to prioritize logic over her blind affection for Syanna, in order to save the city. Ironically, the one that saves Geralt from her is Dandelion, who is at 7th position on the list!
The very reason Anna Henrietta invites Geralt to solve the case was because he is the expert. But when Geralt tells her that taking down a higher vampire is almost impossible, she suggests using “garlic”. Despite Geralt doing his best to solve the problem, she blames him for “not killing the beast yet”, though one of the actual “monsters” responsible for the murders is her sister, whom she ironically wants to protect. Anna Henrietta is compassionate at times without a doubt, but mostly when it suits her, and heartless when it doesn’t.
Among all Witcher 3 annoying characters, Anna Henrietta reigns supreme. This can be seen in her treatment of Geralt if he doesn’t follow everything she says to the letter. She embodies every frustrating trope of blind aristocracy. Even though she is not evil, her hypocrisy is unmatched, and her entitlement boils our blood. Without question, she’s one of the Witcher 3 least liked characters.
